Our History

New Hope  is a ministry that was started in 1997 when God called Richard Spencer, New Hope president and founder, to travel to India on a short term mission trip. During that trip, the Lord placed a burden on his heart for the people of India, especially the children.

On a follow-up mission trip to Hyderabad, India in 2000, he met M.M. Surendra Babu, then the executive director of a ministry called Project Christ-India. Both men soon realized that God had ordained their meeting, and one year later, they founded New Hope India and New Hope International.

The vision was to reach the lost souls by raising prayer and financial support for such ministries as a bible college, a school and local and branch churches. To accomplish this vision, it was necessary to link individuals, families, churches, Christian schools, and other groups from the U.S.A. with the opportunity to support the mission.

From our early beginnings in 2000, New Hope International has teamed with New Hope India in the following ministries:

Hope Evangelical Church

Located in a colony just outside Hyderabad, India, this church has grown from a membership of 7 families (35 members) to over 250 families (1200 members).

New Hope School

New Hope School opened it's doors to about 30 students in 2003. Today, there are 402 children enrolled in class Pre-Kindergarten to 9th grade class. The school is being expanded to house another 40 children and establish a 10th grade class by the 2008-2009 school year.

Branch Churches

Currently there are 16 branch churches, with 8 of them being supported financially by our combined ministry.

New Hope India Ministries

In addition to the ministries previously mentioned, New Hope Ministries supports women evangelists, poor and needy widows and the development of small businesses for many of the church members who otherwise could not earn a living.

Annual Mission Trips to India

Each year New Hope International leads a team on a short term mission trip to Hyderabad, India. During that trip, we conduct a pastors' conference, visit and pray with church members in their homes/huts, conduct church services, preach in outdoor gospel meetings, visit the children in New Hope School, and conduct women and children conferences and devotion times.
